The big bins of fresh corn have returned to the grocery stores and if you're looking for something to do with them (other than enjoy the corn right off the cob) this is a great option! Softened leeks and lots of fresh corn kernels held together with a little custard. Makes a great side dish or serve it with salad for a light meal. Great for Shavuot!
My recipe for traditional knishes made with stretch dough is a recipe that has been passed down through generations of my family. I remember my paternal grandmother serving knishes filled with potatoes and onion for Friday night dinner. My maternal great-aunt taught my mother how to make them, stretching the dough on a tablecloth. I learned how to make them by working with the women in the kitchen at work when I was growing up.
Another great dessert option for Shavuot: Cheesecake Brownies.
I've long been a fan of babka (mostly chocolate) but this lemon-scented cream cheese swirled babka is my new favorite. A crumble-topping takes it to the next level.

This recipe comes from the vault - from over a decade ago when I wrote recipe columns for various newspapers. I found it while going through all of my old recipe files and decided to make it this weekend - what a great decision!
